Timbrook Throws for 6 TDs, Abilene Captures 47-12 Home Win Over the Concordia Panthers

Senior Quarterback Stocton Timbrook passed for 381 yards and six touchdowns as the Abilene Cowboys handed the Concordia Panthers their second loss to start the 2023 season, 47-12, on Friday, September 8th.
Timbrook was 16-of-21 in pass attempts and posted six touchdown passes to five different receivers.
The Cowboys' spread was especially effective against the Panthers, who had a tough time keeping up. Of Timbrook's touchdown passes, four came on scoring drives of three plays or less.
The Cowboys also racked up 451 yards in this one, on the way to their highest point total since a 50-14 win over Wamego in 2016.
Abilene has started the season 2-0 for the second consecutive year.
Timbrook tossed for three touchdowns in the first half, spreading them around to Seniors Brax Fisher and Keaton Hargrave and Junior Joseph Welsh, as the Cowboys grabbed a 28-6 halftime lead. Their only non-passing touchdown of the opening half came on a 9-yard touchdown run by Senior Fullback Zach Miller on their opening drive of the contest.
Hargrave added a second touchdown catch in the third quarter, while both Junior Weston Rock and Sophomore Heath Hoekman pulled in second-half touchdown grabs of their own.
The Panthers have suffered back-to-back losses to begin North Central Kansas League play.
Concordia was able to to put a touchdown on the scoreboard late in the first half. Junior Running Back Drew Sterrett scored on a 9-yard touchdown run with 17-seconds to go in the second quarter, cutting the lead to 21-6.
Sterrett had 8 carries for 39-yards.
Abilene outscored Concordia, 27-6, over the final 24 minutes and 17 seconds.
Concordia Senior Quarterback Braeden Primeaux threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Junior Tight End Dane Cleveland midway through the third quarter to make it 34-12, but that's as close as the Panthers could get.
Cleveland finished with three catches for 62-yards and was named our Nex-Tech Wireless MVP of the Game.
Senior Mason Eickmann led the Panthers in rushing with 7 carries for 56-yards.
Concordia was held to 204 yards of offense.
Senior Caleb Hanson was named the recipient of our H&R Block of the Game. Sliding into a new position as defensive end in place of Tracer Murdock who was unavailable to play due to illness, Hanson collected a team-high five tackles, including one tackle for loss.
The Panthers are on the road again next Friday, September 15th for a 7 pm kick against the Wamego Red Raiders. Wamego improved to 1-1 on the season this week with a 49-0 home win over the Marysville Bulldogs. Live coverage of next week's game can be heard on 1390 KNCK, 98.3 FM and NCKToday.com.
