Following the opening two weeks of the regular season, the NJCAA has released their first regular-season NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 women’s basketball top 25 polls, with six Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams ranked and an additional two teams receiving votes.

With three ranked teams in each of the two polls and a fourth receiving votes, the conference has a top two team in each of the two polls released on Monday with Johnson County holding down the top spot in the NJCAA Division 2 top 25 poll while Dodge City moved up two spots from their preseason ranking to hold the number two ranking in the first regular season Division 1 top 25 poll.

Also ranked in the NJCAA Division 2 Top 25 poll from the KJCCC is number nine Allen Community College, as the Red Devils are off to a 4-0 start this season while allowing only 46.5 points per game against NJCAA competition, nearly 10 points better than any other NJCAA Division 2 team. After starting the season 3-1, which includes a win over ranked Palm Beach State College and Division 1 Rend Lake College, Kansas City Kansas moves from unranked into the poll with the number 17 ranking this week, ahead of three home games this week. Despite a 1-4 start to the season with all five games coming against NJCAA Division 1 foes, Neosho County is among those receiving votes after starting the season ranked number 16 in the preseason poll.

The move for Dodge City up two spots to number two in the first regular season NJCAA Division 1 women’s basketball rankings is one of many changes to occur within the top 25 poll, as top-ranked Northwest Florida State is the lone preseason top 10 team to hold the same ranking in this week’s poll. Also moving up the first regular season rankings from the KJCCC is Butler Community College, as the Grizzlies have turned a 3-0 start into a five-spot jump from number 19 up to number 14, while Hutchinson drops six spots from number 13 down to number 19 following their 3-1 start to the season. One of six remaining unbeatens in KJCCC D1 women’s basketball, Coffeyville has turned in a 4-0 start to the season and is now receiving votes as three of their four wins have come by double-digits.

This week, 39 more games are scheduled for KJCCC women’s basketball teams as schools continue their non-conference schedules against a variety of opponents. The week marks the last week of non-conference play for many KJCCC D1 programs, with a 24-game conference slate set to get underway for all 13 teams that compete at the Division 1 level next week.
