After two full weeks of practice and a preseason jamboree the Concordia High School Volleyball team officially got their season underway during the labor day weekend. A historically tough Marysville tournament is where Concordia started on Saturday where the Panthers played 4 matches in a row. The tournament lived up to it's expectation and proved tough for the Panthers who went 2-2 on the day.

New Head Volleyball Coach Kayla Garst joined Voice of the Panthers Austin McNorton on Tuesday morning's Coaches Corner and shared about the opening tournament.

The Panthers started out the day beating Valley Heights 2 sets to 1, falling to Holton 2-1, defeating Sabetha 2-0, and then ending the day losing to Silver Lake 2-1. Despite some ups and downs Garst said there were some standouts.

"Taylor (McDaniel) did an awesome job passing all day," Garst said. "Kinsleigh (Bethune), Baylen (Arnold), and Charlize (Cash) did a great job serving all day as well."

Now the Panthers focus their attention on their home opener tonight. Concordia will host the Bulldogs of Marysville at CHS with first serve at 5:15. Garst said playing at home will be exactly what the Panthers need after a tough weekend.
