Head Coach Gene Rundus shared his thoughts after the victory.
"I am happy that we won. We were supposed to." Rundus said. "However, I am not happy with the way we played. We have work to do."
Sophomore Mya Niehues won the tournament as she has now finished in the top five in both of the tournaments she's played in this season. The top 5 is below.
1 Mya Niehues Concordia 79
2 Makenna Wallace Rock Creek 109
T2 Emma Frigon Clay Center 109
T2 Olivia Duever Marysville 109
T2 Catalina Ohm Marysville 109
This was the 2nd tournament for Mya after she competed last week at the 4A State Preview in Hesston, but this was the first tournament for the rest of the Panthers. Maddie Bowers finished in 9th, Elora Henderson finished in 14th, and Breckyn Reynolds finished in 18th.
"The first tournament is in the books and we have the medals to prove that we were the best today." Rundus said. "Overall, a fun day that we needed to set a baseline. But baselines are just baselines and our girls and coaches don't want to just be better than the rest. We want to be OUR best."
The Panthers will now be on the road the rest of the season as they next travel to Salina for the Salina Central Invite on September 10th at 2:00.
