KJCCC Men's Basketball Places Five In First NJCAA Rankings Of 2025-26 Regular Season

Despite relatively minor changes to the top 10 of the first regular season NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 Men’s Basketball Top 25 polls, plenty of shuffling throughout the rest of the rankings has led to five ranked teams from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, with three more teams on the cusp of being ranked and receiving votes.

Within the first regular season NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Top 25 poll, an unchanged top-five from the preseason poll makes way for plenty of shuffling and change later on down the poll as Coffeyville remains ranked number eight following a 4-0 start to the season and is joined by new top-10 team Cowley College who moves up two spots to number 10 after starting the year 3-0. Having two of their first three games of the season come against ranked teams, Barton moves up one spot to number 17 following a 2-1 start to the season, while Butler remains among a group of teams receiving votes after a 3-1 start to their 2025 campaign.

Changes were more plentiful within the NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball Top 25 poll as only the top four from the preseason managed to maintain their preseason rankings, which allowed Johnson County to move up three spots from number nine to number six after getting off to an NJCAA D2 best 6-0 this year. The Cavaliers are joined in the Division 2 top 25 by newcomer and KJCCC member Allen Community College, which enters the poll at number 24 following their 3-1 start, as the Red Devils’ only loss came to D1 number five-ranked Connors State by four points on the road last week. Starting the season 4-0 with a win over nationally ranked North Central Missouri College, Highland is now receiving votes alongside preseason-ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College as the Blue Devils are 3-1 this year, with their lone loss coming to number 11-ranked Palm Beach State College.

As non-conference action continues this week, there will be no shortage of action with 43 scheduled games going on in the conference over the next six days. Four of the scheduled matchups will feature teams that are ranked, going against teams that are receiving votes in the latest polls, including Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa (D1 receiving votes) at number 10 Cowley and North Arkansas College (D2 receiving votes) playing at Kansas City Kansas (D2 receiving votes) on Tuesday evening.
