COLBY, Kan. – Hutchinson Community College sophomore Waymond Jordan Jr. along with Dodge City’s Sam Brooks and Emanuel Aguilar have earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Football Players of the Week for the first week of the 2024 football season.  

 

Offensive Player of the Week (Waymond Jordan Jr. - Hutchinson) - Blue Dragon sophomore running back Waymond Jordan Jr. rushed for a career-high 179 yards and two touchdowns in number three-ranked Hutchinson’s 42-10 season-opening victory over New Mexico Military on Thursday in the first NJCAA Football ESPN+ Game of the Week. Averaging 12.8 yards per carry, Jordan needed just 14 carries to reach his career-high total. He had touchdown runs of 26 and 54 yards.

 

Setter of the Week (Sam Brooks – Dodge City) – Dodge City football opened the 2024 season with a big 20-17 win over Tyler battling on the gridiron and battling Mother Nature during the game. The defense would hold Tyler to 232 total yards of offense and surrendered just 10 of the 17 points scored by the Apaches. Sam Brooks was one of the leaders on the defense for the Conquistadors at the safety spot as he recorded 11 tackles in the contest.

 

Defensive Player of the Week (Emanuel Aguilar – Dodge City) – Helping Dodge City to a 20-17 win over Tyler Junior College to open the season in a game that featured multiple weather delays, Emanuel Aguilar gave the Conquistadors a strong presence in the kicking game by netting a pair of field goals in a two-for-three effort with a long of 45 yards.  Aguilar was also 2-2 on extra points and handled the kickoff duties for the Conquistadors, recording two touchbacks.
