Four Concordia Athletes Medal at 2022 KSHSAA Class 4A State Track & Field Meet

The Concordia High School Boys Track & Field team came home with five medals, while the only member of the Concordia High School Girls Track & Field team to qualify for the state track meet found herself on the podium in Wichita on Saturday, May 28th.

The medals began early Saturday when Panther Senior Cav Carlgren posted a 5th place finish in the 4A Boys High Jump at a height of 6'2".

Carlgren picked up his second medal of the weekend when he captured an 8th place finish in the finals of the 4A Boys 300M Intermediate Hurdles.  Carlgren turned in a time of 44.27.

Concordia Senior Toby Wahlmeier, qualifying in four events at this year's state meet, medaled in two individual races on Saturday.

Wahlmeier began the day by snagging a 5th place finish in the finals of the 4A Boys 100M Dash in a time of 10.79.

In his final event of the weekend, Wahlmeier posted a 3rd place finish in the finals of the 4A Boys 200M Dash in a time of 23.68.

Panther Senior Tyler Hobrock closed out his high school career by medaling 8th overall in the 4A Boys Discus with a toss of 144'8" on Saturday. 

Hobrock, a two-time state qualifier, finishes his Panther track career as a two-time state medalist.  Last year, Hobrock medaled 8th overall at the state meet in the 4A Boys High Jump.  This year he ended up out of medal contention in 11th place overall in the high jump with a leap of 5'8".

Sophomore Carlie Carlgren, the lone representative of the Concordia High School Girls Track & Field team at the state meet, medaled 5th overall in the 4A Girls 100M High Hurdles on Saturday in a time of 15.61.  Carlie, a two-time state qualifier, had run 16.00 in the preliminaries the day before.

The Concordia Boys 4x100M Relay team of Wahlmeier, Kaide Gropp, Chayton Alquist-Pennell and Keyan Miller did not make the finals at state.  The team finished 10th overall in the preliminaries Friday in a time of 44.47.

The Panther Boys 4x400M Relay team of Wahlmeier, Gropp, Cameron Cleveland and Drew Sterrett also missed the cut on advancing to Saturday's finals.  The team finished 13th overall in Friday's preliminaries in a time of 3:39.08.

The Concordia Boys 4x800M Relay team of Carlgren, Aceyn Cash, Alan Garcia and Alexis Garcia fell short of placing on Saturday, recording an 11th place finish in a time of 8:50.12.

And Concordia Senior Taye Retter ended his Panther Track & Field career on Friday.  Retter, a 2022 recipient of a Voice of the Panthers Scholarship, ended up 12th overall in the 4A Boys Javelin with a throw of 153'9".
