Concordia Tennis Plays in Wamego

After hosting their home invitational on Thursday of last week's busy homecoming week, the Panther Girls Tennis team had the quick turnaround and traveled to Wamego on Tuesday, September 30th, for the Red Raider Invitational.

This invitational wasn't quite as big as the home meet for the Panthers; however, it featured strong competition. Below are the team standings:

"It was a nice day for tennis in Wamego," Head Girl's Tennis Coach John Turner said. "I thought the girls played hard even though the scores do not always reflect it."

In #1 singles, Raylea Studt finished in 4th and didn't win a match. Studt was defeated 8-0 by Tilly Johnson of Perry-Lecompton, Sammie Miller of Wamego, and Addy Sandstrom of Baldwin.

In #2 singles, Lyllian McNutt finished in 4th and didn't win a match. McNutt was defeated 8-0 by Kate Parnel of Perry-Lecompton, Tatum Vanderbilt of Wamego, and Addelyn Hinderliter of Baldwin.

"Raylea #1 singles and Lyllian #2 singles, both new this year, played up and got some varsity experience today," Turner said.

In #1 doubles, the Panther team of Jori Letourneau and Kinzee Motes finished in 3rd. The Panthers started the tournament with an 8-4 loss to Perry Lecompton, followed by an 8-2 loss to Wamego. Letourneau and Motes quickly bounced back and positively finished the tournament with an 8-3 win over Maggie Todd and Lauren McCart of Baldwin.

Finally, in #2 doubles, the Panther duo of Alexa Jordan and Jazlyn Hendershott played hard but finished in 4th without winning a match. Perry-Lecompton won in a close 8-6 battle, Wamego won 8-4, and Baldwin also won 8-4.

The Panther varsity team will next be going to Chapman for the NCKL tournament on Saturday, October 4th.
