Concordia Tennis Ends Regular Season at NCKL Meet

After more than a week of no varsity tournaments, the Concordia Panther Boys Tennis team got a lot of fundamental practice and work in to prepare for the North Central Kansas League meet held in Marysville. Mother Nature had other plans for the league teams competing. With a thunderstorm rolling through the area on Friday, the teams retreated home and returned on Monday, the 5th, to finish the tournament.

Below are the individual Panther performances:
In #1 singles, Evan Bombardier finished in 2nd. The Senior started the day with an 8-3 win over Brandon Sims of Abilene. Bombardier carried the momentum to defeat Jacob Boland of Chapman in an impressive 8-0 fashion. Next, Evan battled Nick Frese of Marysville and emerged with a close 8-5 victory. Finally, in the championship match, Cale Tromp of Clay Center defeated Bombardier 8-2.
In #2 singles, Hunter Nielander finished in 3rd. The Senior got his tournament started with an impressive 8-0 win over Eyler Holt of Abilene. In one of the best battles of the day, William Strauss of Chapman defeated Nielander in a tiebreaker 8-7 fashion. Nielander got back on track with an 8-3 victory over Daxter Capp of Marysville. Finally, Clay Center's Eli Pfizenmaier defeated Hunter 8-0.
In #1 Doubles the Panther team of Hunter Pickel and Noah Wood finished fifth without winning a match. 1-8 vs Abilene, 5-8 vs Chapman, 0-8 vs Marysville, 0-8 vs Clay Center.
In #2 Doubles, the Panther team of Eli Henderson and Jagger Johnson finished in fourth. A close 7-8 tiebreaker loss vs Abilene, an 8-1 win over Chapman, a 3-8 loss vs Marysville, 4-8 loss vs Clay Center.
The Panthers now focus on the postseason. Concordia will travel to Scott City on Saturday, May 10th, for the Class 4A Regionals beginning at 9 in the morning. Below are the teams competing at the Scott City Regional:
