Concordia Tennis Battles at Chapman
After a strong start to the season for a new look Panther Tennis team in Ellsworth, they quickly hit the court again on Thursday, September 4th, at the Chapman Invitational.
The Chapman Invitational featured 6 teams and really strong competition. "We had a nice weather day for tennis in Chapman," Head Girl's Tennis Coach John Turner said. "We saw two of our league opponents in a 6-team pool play."

In #1 singles, Alexa Jordan finished in 6th. Jordan was defeated by Clara Gfeller of Chapman 6-0, Abby Sandstrom of Baldwin in a close 6-4 battle, and Maddy Murnahan of Abilene 6-3.
In #2 singles, Harley Weathersbee finished in 4th. Weathersbee got off to a great start by defeating Addelyn Hinderliter of Baldwin 6-3. Then Josie Baer of Chapman's Green team defeated Harley by a 6-0 score, followed by Madison Gardner of Chapman's White team defeating Harley 6-3.
In #1 doubles, the Panther team of Jori Letourneau and Kinzee Motes finished in 4th. Chapman defeated the duo with a quick 6-0 win. Concordia had a great response, though; they came back to defeat the Baldwin team in an overtime victory 6-5. To end the day, they were defeated by the team from Abilene 6-2.
In #2 doubles, the Panther team of Bailey Conner and Jazlyn Hendershott finished in 6th. They started out the day losing in an overtime battle with Baldwin, 6-5, falling to Chapman, 6-1, and ending the day losing to Abilene, 6-0.
"We continue to see growth in our girls," Turner said.
Concorida Girls Tennis will be back in action on Saturday, September 13th, for the Salina Central Invite beginning at 9 in the morning.
