Concordia Softball Team Celebrates Season at Year-End Banquet

The Concordia High School Softball team celebrated its 2023 season with a year-end banquet at Concordia Golf & Wellness on Monday, May 22nd.

The Panthers ended their 2023 campaign at 8-13 overall, dropping a 3-1 game at home to the Marysville Bulldogs in the opening round of their 2023 Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 3A Regional Softball Tournament.

Shaelin Giersch and Hanna Acree were named the Co-Outstanding Senior Softball Players of the Year at the banquet.

Giersch, right fielder, hit .254 on the year with a .343 on-base percentage and a .524 slugging percentage.  Giersch collected 16 hits, including five doubles and four home runs, and 17 RBI.

Acree batted .338 on the season with a .486 on-base percentage and a .515 slugging percentage.  Acree, who has signed next year to play softball at Kansas City Kansas Community College, tallied 23 hits, including ten for extra bases, 15 runs and 10 RBI.

As a starting pitcher, Acree had a 1.82 ERA.  She allowed only 19 earned runs in 73 innings of work, and finished the season with 76 strikeouts while permitting just 11 walks.
