Concordia Baseball Team Falls in Both Games of NCKL Doubleheader Against Clay Center

The Concordia High School Baseball team's senior night did not go as planned on Tuesday, May 10th.  Visiting Clay Center took control of the first game of the doubleheader from the very start, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning, en route to a dominant 17-3 win in five innings.

Clay Center also won game two of the doubleheader, 10-3.

Pitching let Concordia down in game one.  Clay Center put up 17 runs on 13 hits, which was helped by seven walks the Panthers allowed.  The Concordia pitching staff also hit six batters in the contest, including four batters in a five hitter stretch in the top of the fourth leading to a huge nine run inning for the Tigers.

Concordia was limited to six hits in the contest.  The Panthers were led at the plate by Junior Stryker Hake who went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, including a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning.

Keegun Beims also went 2-for-2 from the plate.

Maddox Frey picked up an RBI single for the Panthers, driving in one of two runs for Concordia in the bottom of the third inning.

Clay Center out-hit Concordia 9-7 in the nightcap.  The Tigers scored 10 runs, 5 earned, while the Panthers struck out 13 times in the outing.

Joey Henderson led the way for Concordia by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.  Hake also collected a pair of hits in the game two.

Concordia ends the regular season dropping 11 in a row to sit at 2-15 overall and 0-7 in North Central Kansas League play.
