After winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2024 Friends University Spring Invitational to go along with a national qualifying time, Cloud County Community College women's track and field freshman Ozia Trujillo has been named the NJCAA Division I Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

Trujillo posted a time of 11:33.23 to best the eight-runner field in Wichita last Friday to win the event by over 21 seconds while beating all other NJCAA runners in the field by over one minute. The time currently ranks fifth in the NJCAA this season and is only one of two times from NJCAA Region VI runners to have posted a national qualifying time in the event this season.

Trujillo's award follows the T-Bird women's track 4x800 meter relay team (Nontokozo Ncube, Mercy Angaamchaab, N Vanee Anchike, and Jaleyn Rumback) earning Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday after running a school-record time of 9:10.55.
