Cloud County Women's Track & Field Team Continues Strong Start at Washburn University Open

The Cloud County Community College women's indoor track and field team sent a full squad to compete at the 2025 Washburn University Open at the Washburn University Indoor Track in Topeka, Kansas on Friday, January 31, and Saturday, February 1.
Freshman Maimuna Jallow, the reigning Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, added two more first-place finishes to her resume. Jallow established a new meet record in the Women's 60M Dash with a facility record of 7.35. Jallow followed up that performance by winning the Women's 200M Dash in a time of 23.69. Sophomore Rafiatu Nuhu ran 24.37 to place sixth overall in the 200M Dash.
Competing in the Women's 800M Run for the first time, Nuhu finished in fifth place in a national qualifying time of 2:14.70.
Nuhu joined together with sophomores Mercy Angaamchaab and N Vanee Anchike and freshman Amanda Kotambe on the Women's Distance Medley. The four combined to set a new national record for their home country of Ghana, earning a fourth place finish with a national qualifying time of 12:11.38.
Anchike also competed in the Women's One Mile Run, completing the event in 4:57.90 to finish eighth overall.
Sophomore Chenessa Davis hit the track, competing in the Women's 60M Hurdles. Davis finished in 8.87 to place fourth overall.
Davis concluded her strong day with a fifth-place finish in the Women's High Jump, with a leap of 5'0.25".
Freshman Tahlia Lienert represented the Cloud County women's indoor team in the Indoor Pentathlon. In the Women's 60M Hurdles, Lienert was eighth in a time of 9.23. Lienert placed 10th in the Women's High Jump event at a height of 4'11.75".
The last T-Bird to record a top-ten finish was sophomore Bradie Medina. Competing in the Women's Pole Vault, Medina reached 11'2.5" to finish in 10th place.
Cloud County will feature a full squad again when they compete in the 49th Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
