The T-Birds picked up three wins this past weekend in the 2024 Cisco College Wrangler Ranger Round Up in Cisco, Texas. Cloud County earned four-set victories over Coastal Bend College (25-17, 25-13, 22-25, 25-17), Seminole State College (25-12, 25-16, 17-25, 26-24) and Western Texas College (26-24, 28-26, 22-25, 27-25). Their lone loss of the weekend came to tournament host Cisco (23-25, 20-25, 25-19, 21-25).

The match this week with Colby will be a homecoming of sorts for freshman outside hitter Karoline Schroeder, who grew up in neighboring Gove County, Kansas. Schroeder, a graduate of Wheatland-Grinnell High School, located about 40-miles southeast of Colby, put together a strong performance in Cisco, Texas. She currently ranks fourth on the team with 42 kills and fifth on the team in digs with 68, an average of 2.96 kills per set.

Sophomore Bradie Medina is the T-Birds' current leading attacker, tallying 91 kills for an average of 3.03 kills per set. Medina is also top on the leaderboard in digs with 154, an average of 5.13 digs per set, and ranks second on the team with 13 service aces. Sophomore Emery May leads the way in the blocks category with 21 total, while sophomore Ashley Suter leads the team in assists with 133. Suter also has 87 digs, an average of 3.11 digs per set.

Colby, ranked No. 18 in the NJCAA preseason Division I rankings, is 7-1 on the year and coming off three wins in the 2024 Springhill Suites by Marriott Cheyenne Invitational in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The week prior, the Trojans earned four wins in the Midland College Kick-Off Classic in Midland, Texas. Colby's only blemish this season is a five-set loss to Northeastern Junior College on August 30.

Last season, Cloud County and Colby split their regular season series 1-1, with Colby sweeping the T-Birds at home and Cloud County taking the second match in four sets. Colby later beat Cloud County in the opening match of the 2023 NJCAA Region 6 Tournament on their way to winning the 2023 Region 6 and Plains District Championship, earning the program its third-ever bid to the NJCAA Volleyball National Tournament.
