Cloud County Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets to Butler Community College
The Cloud County Community College volleyball team came up short in a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) clash, falling in straight sets to Butler Community College, 12-25, 12-25, 16-25, on Saturday, September 27, at Arley Bryant Gymnasium in Concordia.
Cloud County falls to 5-16 on the year and 0-6 in KJCCC play, while Butler improves to 12-8 overall and 3-4 in KJCCC play.
Freshman Kenadie Casanova paced the T-Birds' offense with six kills. Sophomore Iza Caroline da Silva picked up five kills and five digs. Freshmen middle hitters Elizabeth Schuster and Zoey Sudbeck tallied four kills each. Schuster also added two service aces. Redshirt freshman Addyson Ogle accumulated nine assists, while freshman Ylvie Schmid had five assists. Sophomore libero Beatrice Giusti had a team-high 14 digs, while sophomore Berkleigh Curtis tallied five digs.
Cloud County continues its current six-match homestand on Wednesday, October 1, for a 6:30 pm match against No. 8 Barton Community College in KJCCC action. Barton is 18-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play following a five-set road loss to No. 12 Colby Community College on September 24. The Cougars bounced back from that loss on September 27 with a four-set road win over Garden City Community College. Barton has won four straight meetings over Cloud County, including sweeping both of their conference matches with the T-Birds in 2024.
