Cloud County Men's Basketball to Welcome Kansas Wesleyan JV for Home Opener
The Cloud County Community College men's basketball team welcomes Kansas Wesleyan University JV for its home opener on Wednesday, November 12. Tip-off is set for 8 pm inside Arley Bryant Gymnasium. Live coverage of the game will be streamed on the T-Bird Sports Network.
Kansas Wesleyan will be the second National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) junior varsity team the T-Birds have faced this season. Cloud County started the year with a dominant 116-64 victory over William Penn University JV on October 31 at the Meridian Credit Union Classic in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Cloud County and Kansas Wesleyan JV last met on November 7, 2024, with the T-Birds beating the Coyotes, 111-60. The victory marked the third time in their last four meetings with Kansas Wesleyan JV that the T-Birds have scored 100 or more points.
Kansas Wesleyan JV is one of six non-conference opponents on Cloud County's non-conference slate. The T-Birds will close out non-conference play by hosting North Platte Community College on Saturday, November 15, at 2 pm.
Cloud County will aim to begin its home slate with a win for the third consecutive season. The T-Birds have won their home opener in six of the last seven seasons.
The T-Birds are 3-1 on the year following a pair of wins over State Fair Community College and Missouri State University - West Plains at the 2025 Midwest JUCO Classic in West Burlington, Iowa, last weekend.
Cloud County had six players in double-figures in their 81-66 win over State Fair. It was the first time Cloud County had six players in double-figures since a 110-66 win over Independence Community College on February 17, 2024.
The T-Birds then eclipsed the century mark for the second time this season in a 107-83 win over Missouri State University - West Plains. The T-Birds shot 60.9 percent from the field and 51.9 percent from three, connecting on 14 shots from behind the arc en route to the 24-point win. It marked the most made three-pointers for the T-Birds since hitting 16 in a 101-90 win at Dodge City Community College on November 23, 2024.
Freshman forward Al Brooks Jr has scored in double-figures in each of his first four games of his collegiate career. Brooks opened the year with 16 points in 16 minutes of action against William Penn University JV, and followed that up with a season-high 26 points against No. 13 Indian Hills, 23 points against State Fair, and 24 points against Missouri State University - West Plains. Brooks leads the T-Birds in scoring at 22.3 points per game and rebounding at 11.0 rebounds per game.
Redshirt freshman Manasseh Stackhouse dropped a season-high 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting against Missouri State University - West Plains. Stackhouse is currently Cloud County's second leading scorer with 13 points per game on 51.2 percent shooting. He also ranks second on the team in rebounding at 6.5 rebounds per game.
Sophomore Elidjah Savane, the team's top returning scorer from a year ago, has finished in double-digits in each of the team's last three games. Savane is averaging 12.8 points per game on 65.4 percent shooting to go along with 6.0 rebounds per game.
The T-Birds have also made 28 three-pointers through four games, an average of seven made threes per contest. Sophomore Kuel Akot leads the way with nine triples coming on a 40.9 percent shooting clip, while sophomore Syncere Burnette has five treys on the year.
Defensively, Cloud County is holding opponents to 29.0 percent shooting from three-point range and has forced an average of 20.8 turnovers per game.
