Cloud County Men's Basketball Team Races Past Fort Hays Tech Northwest, 92-73

The Cloud County Community College men's basketball team shot 49.2 percent as a team, buried ten three-pointers, and dominated Fort Hays Tech Northwest, 92-73, for its second win in a row on Wednesday, January 7, in Goodland, Kansas.

It was Cloud County's second-best shooting day of Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play, and the ten made three-pointers marked the second-most in conference play following the team's 12 made triples against Pratt in its previous game on January 3. The T-Birds have also scored 90 points or more in back-to-back games, and for the sixth time this season. Cloud County is 8-7 this season, and 6-0 when scoring 90+ points.

Four Cloud County players scored in double-figures, and the T-Birds had 28 points scored off the bench.

Redshirt freshman forward Manasseh Stackhouse posted a season-high 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field, including knocking down three treys. Stackhouse added 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season, including his second in the team's last three games. He had 23 points and 11 rebounds in Cloud County's 75-62 loss at Hutchinson on December 13.

Sophomore guard DJ Holloway posted his first double-double of the season, tying a season-high with 22 points while leading the team with 12 rebounds. Holloway hit 7-of-12 from the field, 3-of-5 from behind the arc, and 5-of-6 shots from the foul line. He also added four steals.

Freshman guard Kam Williams played a season-high 30 minutes and finished with 13 points and a season-best four rebounds.

Sophomore guard Syncere Burnette notched his first career double-double, scoring 11 points while adding a team-high 10 assists. Burnette also tallied five rebounds and four steals.

Sophomore forward Elidjah Savane scored nine points off the bench. Sophomore wing Samuel Akot chipped in six points. Sophomore guard Kuel Akot contributed three points, while freshman forward D'ontez Walker added two points.

The T-Birds grabbed their first double-digit lead of the night at 19-9 on a pair of free throws by Savane with 11:35 remaining in the first half. Cloud County led by as many as 19 points and took a 15-point lead into halftime. Fort Hays Tech Northwest never got closer than an eight-point margin in the second half.

Cloud County won its second consecutive game, improving its conference record to 3-6. Fort Hays Tech Northwest has lost back-to-back games to fall to 7-7 overall and 3-6 in KJCCC action.

Cloud County will visit Garden City Community College on Saturday, January 10, at 4 pm.
