Cloud County Community College Has 53 Student-Athletes, Nine Teams Earn NJCAA Academic Honors

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released the 2023-2024 NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year and NJCAA All-Academic honorees to honor both teams and individuals for excellence in the classroom.

A total of nine Cloud County Community College Athletic Teams finished the full academic year with a grade point average above 3.0 to earn Academic Team of the Year honors while a total of 53 student-athletes earned NJCAA All-Academic honors for completing the year with a GPA of 3.60 or higher. Of the 53 student-athletes earning the distinction, 11 earned First-Team NJCAA All-Academic for finishing the academic year with a 4.0 GPA.

Academic Team of the Year honorees for Cloud County include the CCCC volleyball team who had the department's highest GPA of 3.59 which ranked 31st of 150 softball teams that were honored by the NJCAA as Academic Teams of the Year. The next highest GPA in the T-Bird athletic department belonged to the women's cross country team with a 3.45 GPA to rank 17th out of 57 women's cross country teams honored by the NJCAA while the baseball team would carry a 3.45 team GPA to rank 26th out of 147 NJCAA baseball programs to earn the distinction this past year. Other Cloud County athletic teams to earn NJCAA Academic Team of the Year honors included the men's basketball team (3.37 GPA, eighth-best of men's basketball teams), softball team (3.21 GPA, 131st-best GPA of softball teams), women's outdoor track and field (3.12 GPA, 21st best of women's outdoor track and field team), women's indoor track and field (3.10 GPA, 12th-best of women's indoor track and field teams), men's outdoor track and field (3.10 GPA, 10th-best of men's outdoor track and field teams), and women's basketball (3.09 GPA, 91st-best of women's basketball teams).

In addition to having 11 student-athletes earn First-Team NJCAA All-Academic honors, the T-Birds had 14 student-athletes earn Second-Team NJCAA All-Academic honors for finishing the year with a GPA of 3.80-3.99. The remaining 28 student-athletes honored by the NJCAA earned Third-Team NJCAA All-Academic honors for finishing the year with a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79.
