2025-26 KJCCC Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Week 8
Returning to action with 25-plus point performances in their first games back from an extended layoff, Cloud County Community College sophomore Leila Washington and Johnson County Community College guard Layla Scott have each earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors for week eight.
Leila Washington – Cloud County (KJCCC Division 1 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Sophomore forward Leila Washington recorded her third double-double of the season in Cloud County's 81-67 home win over Pratt on January 3rd. Washington scored a season-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and five-of-nine from behind the arc. Washington was also a perfect three-of-three from the free-throw line. The Garber, Oklahoma native added 11 rebounds, two steals, and a blocked shot in the win. Washington currently ranks in the top ten in the conference in points per game, field-goal percentage, three-point percentage, and blocks per game.
Layla Scott – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week)
All-America guard Layla Scott led the number one-ranked Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team to a dominant 110-38 victory over Treasure Valley Community College last week to keep the Cavaliers' record perfect at 16-0. Scott finished with 25 points, six rebounds, six assists, and six steals while adding a block to finish out her stat line. The sophomore was highly efficient, shooting eight-of-11 from the floor, including five triples, and knocking down all four of her free throw attempts. At the halfway point of the season, Scott leads the KJCCC D-II in scoring (17.5), made three-point field goals (59), assists (62), and free throw percentage (.860).
