13 Concordia Athletes Qualify for 2022 KSHSAA Class 4A State Track & Field Meet

Thirteen Concordia High School athletes ran, threw and jumped themselves into the state track and field meet following top four finishes in the 2022 Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 4A Regional in Abilene on Friday, May 20th.

Carlie Carlgren, Cav Carlgren, Aceyn Cash, Cameron Cleveland, Alan Garcia, Alexis Garcia, Kaide Gropp, Tyler Hobrock, Keyan Miller, Chayton Alquist-Pennell, Taye Retter, Drew Sterrett and Toby Wahlmeier will represent the Panthers on Friday, May 27th and Saturday, May 28th at the KSHSAA Class 4A State Track & Field Meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

Toby Wahlmeier, a senior, will be competing in four events after qualifying in the 100M Dash and 200M Dash and as part of the Panther Boys 4x100M and 4x400M Relay teams.

Wahlmeier finished 2nd in the 200M Dash in a time of 22.24 and was 3rd in the 100M Dash in a time of 10.91.

Wahlmeier joined with Kaide Gropp, Chayton Alquist-Pennell and Keyan Miller on the Concordia Boys 4x100M Relay team that finished in fourth place in a time of 44.17.

Wahlmeier and Gropp joined teammates Cameron Cleveland and Drew Sterrett on the Concordia Boys 4x400M Relay team that posted a 4th place finish in a time of 3:34.24.

The Concordia Boys 4x800M Relay team of Cav Carlgren, Aceyn Cash, Alan Garcia and Alexis Garcia recorded a 4th place finish, the last qualifying position, in a time of 8:32.11.

Carlgren also qualified in two individual events.  He finished in 3rd place in the Boys High Jump with a leap of 6'2", while he also took 4th in the Boys 300M Intermediate Hurdles in a time of 41.77.

Returning state medalist Tyler Hobrock also qualified in the Boys High Jump after he turned in a 4th place finish at a height of 6'0".  Last year, Hobrock medaled 8th overall at the state meet with a leap of 5'10".

Hobrock also will compete in the Boys Discus at the state meet for the second consecutive season.  Hobrock finished 1st overall in the Boys Discus at the regional competition with a distance of 145'3".

Taye Retter, a senior, also punched his ticket to the state meet after recording a 4th place finish in the Boys Javelin with a throw of 157'10".

Sophomore Carlie Carlgren will compete in her second state meet next weekend and will be the lone representative of the Concordia High School Girls Track & Field team.  Carlgren was 2nd in the Girls 100M Hurdles in a time of 15.2.

As a team, the Panthers Boys finished 3rd while the Lady Panthers ended up in 9th place.

KNCK Sports will provide hourly reports from the 2022 KSHSAA Class 4A State Track & Field Meet on Friday and Saturday, beginning at 9 am both days, on 1390 KNCK and 98.3 FM.
