Joyce S. Eakins, age 92, entered into rest on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS.  She was born on April 29, 1930 to Wolf Point, MT to Amos & Blanche (Vanderhoof) Shrader.

She graduated from Wolf Point High School.

Joyce met John Eakins at a USO dance in Billings, MT in 1949 and they were married on July 1, 1950 in Wolf Point, Montana.  They enjoyed 68 wonderful years together and he preceded her on July 14, 2018.

Joyce worked as a telephone operator in Montana.  She was a homemaker and then later went to work for McDonalds Department Store and later Dreilings all in Concordia until her retirement.  She was life member of the VFW Auxiliary, a 4-H leader for years with the Hollis Hustlers.  Joyce enjoyed crocheting, cross stitch, reading and most of all spending time her family.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Jack Eakins (Wenxia), Concordia, KS.; Jay Eakins, Bentonville, AR.; 2 daughters, Cheryl Tira (Tom), Columbus, NE.; Dawn Steinman (Albert), Chester, NE.; son in law, Ed Bridges, Richland, WA; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, daughter, LeAnn Bridges, grandson, Bryan Runyan & brothers, Wayne, Richard & Orin Shrader

Visitation will be from 1-8 pm, Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Peppers officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hollis Cemetery, Hollis, Kansas.  Memorial contributions may be given to Sunset Nursing Home c/o Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  For online condolences, please visit ww.chaputbuoy.com.
