Donna J. Pruitt

Donna J. Pruitt, daughter of James H. Lewis and LoRee L. (Eliott) Lewis was born February 19, 1927 at Newton, Kansas and passed away on October 15 2021 at Republic County Hospital ISB, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 94.

After graduating from Belleville High School in 1945 and graduating from the University of Kansas, Donna worked for two years in interior design in Kansas City, Missouri.  She was united in marriage to Melvin A. Pruitt on September 28, 1952.

After their marriage in 1952, Melvin and Donna lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for a year.  She and her husband returned to Belleville where she worked for 40 years in the family automobile business, Jim Lewis Motors Inc.  Donna retired in 1993. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and LoRee Lewis, brother Dr. James J. Lewis, nephew, Kelly Lewis.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin A. Pruitt of Belleville, KS, , three nephews, Kirk (Jayne) Lewis of Fort Collins, CO, Keith Lewis of Wichita, KS, Bryan Lewis of Wichita, KS , other relatives and many friends.

Cremation was chosen.

Graveside Inurnment services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS, conducted by, Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock.

Inurnment will be in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS.

Memorials may be given to the Donna J. Pruitt memorial fund.

Friends may sign the register book on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 1 PM to 5 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.
