Don L. Danielson, the son of Frank Andrew Danielson and L. Lucille (Kelly) Danielson, was born September 12, 1937 in rural Republic County near Talmo, KS and passed away on September 2, 2023 at Advena Living Center, Clay Center, KS at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 20 days.

Don grew up on the family farm north of Talmo, Kansas, attending the Talmo, Prairie Grove, and Grant grade schools.   He graduated from Belleville High School in 1955.

On October 21, 1956, he was united in marriage to Lenora L. Axelson.

The couple made their home in Belleville, Kansas.

Don served with the Army National Guard from 1961 until 1962, and was stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas.

Don then worked for the Republic County Highway Department and later was appointed Republic County Sheriff for two years.    Don also served a few years on the Belleville Police Department.

He then was employed with the City of Belleville Street Department for several years, retiring as the Street Department Supervisor.   Don also served on the Belleville City Council as a council member for several terms.

Don enjoyed antique tractors, attending tractor pulls and parades in the area, and his pet cats.    He and his wife, Lenora, liked to take bus trips to many locations and also visit Branson, MO every year.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and L. Lucille Danielson; his wife Lenora in 2022, and his sister-in-law, Darlene Danielson.

Don is survived by his brother, Dean Danielson of Belleville, KS; niece, Denise Danielson, of Hays, KS; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, KS with Pastor Kathy Aeillo, officiating.

Interment will follow at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS.

Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM on Thursday, Sept 7th at Bachelor-Surber where the family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM on Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Don L. Danielson Memorial Fund.
