Two-term board member Tony Miller of Aurora has officially filed for a third term on the USD 333 Concordia Board of Education, the Cloud County Clerk's Office reported on Friday, May 26th.

Miller was elected to his first term on the board in April 2015.  He won a second term in November 2019.

Miller, owner of Miller's Automotive in Concordia, is the third candidate to have filed for the Position 3, Sub-District 3 seat on the board of education.  In April, Mike Cleveland of Concordia, a farmer with Higher Ground Farms, LLC, filed for the position.  Last week, Jerlynn Johnston of Concordia, a former Shelter Insurance agent and a nurse in the North Central Kansas region, also filed for the seat.

According to Cloud County Clerk Shella Thoman, should a fourth candidate file for Position 3, Sub-District 3, there will be a primary election in August.  Two candidates then would advance to the general election in November, if that were to happen.

This year, there are four seats up for election on the Concordia school board, with two of them featuring contested races.

Amber Lambertz, an agent with Farm Bureau Financial Services, and Bryan Cleveland, a former high school teacher, US Marine Corps veteran, and area farmer, have both filed this spring for the Member At-Large position on the board of education.

Four-term board member Kevin Pounds, the current Member At-Large board member, has not refiled for this position.

Jenny Parker has filed for re-election to the Position 2, Sub-District 2 seat on the school board.  Parker, a Foster Care Administrator for the Northwest and Southwest Region for the Kansas Department for Children and Families, was originally appointed by the school board to her position on April 10th, following this year's resignation of board member Mark Nordell.

The other position up for election this year is the District 1, Position 1 seat held by Bryan Bombardier.  Currently, no one has filed for this seat.

The deadline to file to run for school board is noon on Thursday, June 1st.
