Three-Car Collision Near Salina Leaves Russell Woman Injured

During the afternoon of Sunday, March 1, three vehicles were involved in a crash on I-70 near Salina, resulting in a Russell woman receiving a possible injury.

At approximately 1:27 PM, a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 32-year-old Sara Kay Wellbrock of Russell, Kansas, was merging onto Westbound I-70 from the Northbound I-135 on-ramp. After merging onto I-70, Wellbrock lost control of her vehicle and was struck by a 2014 Toyota Camry, driven by 19-year-old Mason Edward Smith of Minneapolis, Kansas, who was then also rear-ended by a 2008 Ford F-350, driven by 24-year-old Michael Alan Rider of Malvern, Arkansas.

Wellbrock was transported to Salina Regional Health Center with a possible injury after expressing a complaint of pain. Smith and Rider were not injured in the collision. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, all individuals were wearing a safety restraint.
