SafeLine Kansas: A Vital Resource for Victims and Survivors of Sexual and Domestic Violence
The Crisis Center Inc., along with the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, announces the rebranding of the 24/7 Kansas Crisis Hotline for domestic violence and sexual assault to SafeLine Kansas. This initiative aims to raise awareness and increase the visibility of this crucial resource for victims and survivors of sexual and domestic violence in Kansas.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to reach more Kansans with this vital resource,” says Kathy Ray, Executive Director of The Crisis Center, Inc., the agency that administers the statewide SafeLine. “This tool provides victims and survivors with 24/7 access to confidential support and sexual and domestic violence resources in their local community,” says Ray.
SafeLine Kansas offers support at any time, free of charge, and it is completely confidential. Individuals can reach out via text or phone, ensuring that help is always within reach. The service provides comprehensive resources – from emotional support and safety planning – to practical resources such as finding your local sexual assault advocacy agency for help in creating a plan of hope and survival.
Individuals in need can immediately and confidentially access SafeLine Kansas by typing SAFE to 847411 for the text line or by dialing 1-888-363-2287 for the toll-free, live-answer phone line.
“We know how critical it is to provide many opportunities for people to access support when they are experiencing sexual or domestic violence; this is why the statewide helpline has been and continues to be a critical tool for increasing safety for victims and survivors in Kansas,” says Michelle McCormick, Executive Director of the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence. “Now, with the added ability to receive communication via text message, SafeLine Kansas will provide even greater accessibility for survivors to get connected to the 24-hour services that prioritize their confidentiality and safety,” says McCormick.
