Portion of K-204 in Smith Center Closed for Reconstruction

A portion of K-204 Highway in Smith Center is closed for reconstruction starting Monday, June 9.
The Kansas Department of Transportation project will involve pavement replacement on K-204 starting at the west city limits of Smith Center and ending at the US 281 junction. New curb, gutter and sidewalks will also be installed. Traffic will be directed to follow the signed detour on US 36 and US 281 while the closure is in effect.
KDOT expects the project to be complete in late November, conditions permitting.
Smoky Hill LLC of Salina is the project’s primary contractor with a total contract cost of approximately $3.3 million.
