For the 35th consecutive year, North Central Kansas Medical Center Volunteers received the Hospital Volunteers of Kansas Gold Award of Excellence at the State Hospital Volunteers of Kansas and Kansas Hospital Association luncheon meeting.  The state organization has changed their official name from Hospital Auxiliaries of Kansas to Hospital Volunteers of Kansas (HVK).  Sally Emerson, HVK State President, presented the award to the NCKMC Volunteers attending the state meeting: Shirley Moynihan, Vice President, Marie Cairns, Secretary, and Pam Campbell, Director of Volunteer Services.

The Gold Award of Excellence is earned by completing nine requirements during the year.  These requirements involve a great deal of time, effort and hard work on the part of many members.  North Central Kansas Medical Center Volunteers serve as volunteers when the Bloodmobile comes to Concordia, as well as providing and serving meals for some of the visits.  The Volunteers awarded two scholarships to students entering a healthcare field of study.  The Gift Shop, located on “Main Street” of the hospital, sells cards and gifts for many occasions and has recently added new fall items.

NCK Medical Center Volunteers has hosted several fundraisers, including linen sales, the Fall Fest bake sale, Holiday bake sale, and scrub sales.  The Volunteers recently used funds raised to purchase a salad bar and stainless steel food carts for the hospital.  Anyone interested in helping the Volunteers, formerly the Auxiliary, may contact Marilyn Flesher, President, or any Volunteer member.

North Central Kansas Medical Center Administration is proud of the Volunteer organization and commends them for achieving the prestigious Gold Award in 2022.
