MCHHS Receives MamaAnne Birthing Simulator Through KDHE Healthcare Upskilling Grant

Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems (MCHHS) is excited to announce the arrival of MamaAnne, a state-of-the-art maternal and newborn birthing simulator, made possible through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Healthcare Upskilling Grant.

MamaAnne is an advanced, high-fidelity simulation manikin designed to provide realistic, hands-on training for healthcare professionals caring for mothers and newborns. From routine deliveries to rare obstetrical emergencies, the simulator allows clinical teams to practice critical scenarios in a safe learning environment.

By incorporating simulation-based education into ongoing staff development, MCHHS is strengthening the skills, confidence, and teamwork of its physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other supporting healthcare teams. These realistic training experiences enhance clinical decision-making and teamwork, helping ensure the highest level of care when every second matters.

In addition to enhancing education for current healthcare professionals, MamaAnne will serve as an invaluable teaching resource for nursing students, medical students, emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, and other healthcare learners who complete clinical rotations and educational experiences at MCHHS. The simulator will allow students to gain hands-on experience managing both routine births and obstetrical emergencies before caring for patients, strengthening the future rural healthcare workforce while improving patient safety.
