Kristie Anderson Wins 2023 Rotary Club of Concordia Grocery Grab
Kristie Anderson was the winner of the 2023 Rotary Club of Concordia Grocery Grab.
Local Rotarians sold tickets for $5 to raise money for Children's Literacy. Each ticket was placed in a drawing and three finalists were drawn this week. The final winner was announced on Thursday, March 16th.
Anderson had five minutes to go through the food section at Walmart and grab as many groceries as she could. Anderson's grand total was $487.68.
Proceeds from this annual event will support local literacy programs and scholarships given by the Concordia Rotary Club. Carleen Nordell, President of the Concordia Rotary Club, says they donate $500 worth of books to the Concordia Elementary School Library each year, while the club also provides three scholarships totaling $1,800 to graduating seniors of Concordia High School who plan to attend a Kansas post-secondary school.
The USD 333 Concordia Daycare finished in second place in the grocery grab drawing and received a $100 gift card to Walmart. Gary Strait finished in third place in the drawing and received a $50 gift card to Walmart.
Nordell said the local grocery stores have been very supportive throughout the years, granting one winner a five-minute grocery grab shopping spree in their stores.
Local business professionals, current and retired, are welcome to join the Concordia Rotary Club. Rotary meets the first and third Thursdays of each month at noon in the conference room at the North Central Kansas Medical Center in Concordia where they conduct business, plan projects and events, hear a program, and enjoy camaraderie. As part of this international civic organization, Rotarians support a variety of causes, making positive impacts locally and abroad.
Rotarians strive to conduct themselves according to the 4-Way Test:
⦁ First, is it the Truth?
⦁ Second, is it Fair to all concerned?
⦁ Third, will it build Good Will and better Friendships?
⦁ And fourth, will it be Beneficial to all concerned?
If Rotary sounds a like a good fit for you, please contact a Rotarian or inquire through their Facebook page about how to become a member.
