Summer break is here and for the Frank Carlson Library in Concordia, that means their Summer Reading Program is back.

The Summer Reading Program is a way to encourage school children to read during their summer vacation, use the library and develop the habit of reading.

To kick off the celebration, the library hosted its kick-off event in the Carlson Room on Wednesday, May 25th.  Representatives from the Milford Nature Center were on hand to present, "What Do You Sea?"  Children learned about a time when Kansas was covered with water, to now.  A large variety of interesting fossils, coral, sea sponges, and other items were shown, as well as two live turtles for the children to see.

Amber Myers, Assistant Director of the Milford Nature Center, says they aim to provide visitors with a better understanding of the natural communities of Kansas.
