Country Honky Tonk Reopens Under New Ownership

Charles Reed has reopened Country Honky Tonk in Concordia.

The longtime bar and grill, located at 418 Broadway Street, closed earlier this year.  Reed, who recently moved to North Central Kansas from Austin, Texas, purchased the bar in June and officially reopened on September 16th.

Reed, who has relatives in the area, said he left the Lone Star state and Austin, one of the fastest growing major cities in the U.S., to find a small, rural community to call home.

Recently retired, Reed has never owned a business.  But he says he fell in love with the Concordia community, its members, and the idea of running a neighborhood bar.

This week, the Concordia City Commission voted unanimously to approve the 2022 Cereal Malt Beverage License for Country Honky Tonk.

Reed wants the place to serve as a gathering spot for friends and others in Concordia.

Reed doesn't expect to begin selling food again for another six months to a year.

Country Honky Tonk is open nightly from 5 pm to midnight.
