Cooking and Nutrition Education Program to be Offered at Cloud County Resource Center
The Cloud County Resource Center is partnering with K-State Research and Extension's River Valley District to present Teen Cuisine, a free cooking and nutrition class for youth ages 10 to 14.
Tonya Merrill, Executive Director of the Cloud County Resource Center, says Teen Cuisine aims to empower teens to adopt healthier lifestyles by teaching them the knowledge and skills needed to prepare nutritious and delicious snacks and meals at home.
Students will learn basic nutrition information and how to read nutrition labels, food safety and food preparation skills including proper cleaning and sanitization, knife safety, and how to read recipe, basic cooking skills that are reinforced by making a recipe in every lesson, and the importance of being physically active every day.
Space is limited. All participants must register by Wednesday, June 12th.
Merrill says the series will be offered over the course of six Thursday afternoons from 3:45 pm to 5:15 pm, beginning Thursday, June 13th, at the Cloud County Resource Center in Concordia.
