Frank Carlson Library and Concordia High School have partnered to welcome artist and 2004 CHS graduate Shelby Prindaville as the final Pause PAWS Speaker this school year.

Prindaville is the Art Department Chair, Director of the Helen Levitt and Eppley Art Galleries, and Associate Professor of Art at Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa.  She is also President of the Board of Trustees for the Sioux City Art Center.  Shelby earned her Master's degree in Fine Arts from Louisiana State University's interdisciplinary painting and drawing program in 2013 and her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in sculpture from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008.  Her studio practice combines her interests in the sciences and art.  This interest extends to her collaboration with John Pojman, which has led to the development of new polymer clays used in her mixed media reliefs and sculptures.

Shelby's artwork has been exhibited in various venues internationally and throughout the United States, including Madrid, Buenos Aires, Philadelphia, New York City, Washington D.C., Boston, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Baton Rouge, Fort Worth, and Los Angeles, as well as online.  Her work is included in a number of public and private collections, and she has been awarded a variety of grants, prizes, and international and domestic residencies.  She has been selected as a World Wildlife Fund tour artist, was invited to be the first-ever artist in residence at a veterinary school in the United States at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, and has been published in a number of journals, catalogs, and media outlets.

Shelby will be speaking to current Concordia High School students from 9 am to 9:30 am on Thursday, February 16th in the historic CHS Auditorium.  The presentation will be live-streamed for the general public by Chris Stiles' high school video production team on their YouTube channel, USD 333 Media Productions.

The Frank Carlson Library will be hosting Shelby's art exhibit from February 17th to March 3rd.  The public is welcome to meet the artist by attending the opening reception for the exhibit from 5 pm to 6 pm on Thursday, February 16th at the Frank Carlson Library.
