Concordia City Commissioners Approve Standard Detail Agreement for Contractors, New Traffic Light System at 6th and Lincoln

Concordia City Commissioners met Wednesday at City Hall and discussed establishing a Standard Detail Agreement for contractors.
Public Works Director Shane Kisby explained the benefits of this type of agreement.
Commissioners approved to have Campbell and Johnson of Concordia create a Standard Detail Agreement for $10,000.
Kisby then laid out a plan to replace the outdated traffic light system at 6th and Lincoln in Concordia with a new, modern system. It was approved in the amount of $39,939 and will be paid from CIP Designated Funds.
Discussion continued on updating the city's public vending ordinance, but no action was taken. Commissioners are working with city staff to make the ordinance clearer and encourage vendors to set up in Concordia.
Two blighted properties went up for public hearings. No one spoke for either property. Commissioners then approved condemnation of structures at 211 East 5th Street and 1016 Washington.
Dan Haist, who is in charge of the city fireworks display, met with commissioners and asked for the city staff, including police and fire department, to help with July 3 event at the Cloud County Fairgrounds. Commissioners also agreed to take permit fees paid for fireworks stands in the city limits and allocate those funds for the city fireworks display.
During staff reports, City Manager Amy Lange gave an update on the St. Joseph subdivision.
On a not-so-positive note, Concordia Police Chief Brent Gering reported to commissioners officers are seeing an increase in the number homeless individuals with tents in the community.
