Concordia City Commission to discuss police K-9 unit and Domestic Violence Proclamation
Concordia City Commissioners Charles Lambertz, Ashley Hutchinson, Marsha Wentz, Amy Jackson and Christy Hasch will meet for their regular meeting at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, and discuss only a few agenda items.
After the regular call to order, including a roll call for attendance, invocation and Pledge of Allegiance, commissioners will then move to approve the meeting's agenda and public comments. Once complete, commissioners plan to discuss a Domestic Violence Awareness Month Proclamation.
The discussion agenda item will focus on the cost and approach to launching a Concordia Police Department K-9 Unit. According to Concordia Police Chief Brent Gering's report in the agenda, the total cost for starting the program is $33,936.57.
Grant opportunities may fund much of that cost alongside current city funds. Once commissioners finish that discussion, the action agenda will follow.
In the action agenda, commissioners listed two items: approving the Wednesday, Sept. 18 meeting minutes and taking action on Appropriation Ordinance 18.
Staff and commissioner reports will wrap up the meeting with no planned executive, information or study sessions.
