It’s a bright new day in Kansas . . . and in Cloud County. Opportunities abound to build a career, start or expand a business, and pursue remote work
opportunities.

Recognizing that Kansas is the place to “build your best life” and “love where you live,” the Kansas Department of Commerce has unveiled Love, Kansas, a dynamic talent attraction campaign aimed at boosting the state’s workforce and economy.

The rationale is simple: People are needed to keep pace with growth in numerous industries and professions across the state. The initiative promotes Kansas not only as an exceptional place to work, but also to live and raise a family.

While the emphasis is on “boomerangs” with previous ties to Kansas, Love, KS urges families from around the country to relocate to the Sunflower State to take advantage of abundant job opportunities, a high quality of life, an excellent education system, and affordable housing.

As an official partner in the Love, KS program, Cloud County will launch its local promotion at 1 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the Broadway Plaza as part of Deck the Halls. The theme is a holiday postcard-writing campaign to encourage citizens to send personal invitations to past residents to return to the place they know and love, and to build a future right here where they already have connections.

The Cloud County campaign features a postcard with original watercolor artwork by artist Abbi Peterson, a commemorative Love, KS ornament provided courtesy of Concordia Technologies Inc., and a special mailbox constructed by industrial arts students at Concordia Junior-Senior High School to receive postcards at the Broadway Plaza.

Who’s at the top of your “wish list” of former residents you’d like to see return to Cloud County? Maybe a childhood friend, a former co-worker, a family member? Invite them home for the holidays—and home to stay! Get their mailing address and come to the Plaza on Dec. 7 to fill out a postcard and drop it in the Love, KS mailbox!

It’s the perfect way to cap the day’s Deck the Halls activities. Attendees will receive a campaign postcard and ornament. There will also be a gift basket drawing and Santa will make an appearance.

Following the launch event, postcards will be made available through late December at numerous locations in Concordia as well as in Clyde, Miltonvale, Glasco and Jamestown. Just look for the blue-and-gold Love, KS logo to find postcard pickup and drop locations!
