The Cloud County Resource Center and Food Bank has received help from the community in keeping their shelves stocked.

Vestas Wind Energy recently made a donation of $1,000 for food purchases.  This $1,000 will be used to buy perishable items such as bread, meat, milk and eggs for access in the food bank through a local store.

Also, Modern Woodmen of America donated $350 worth of cereal to the food bank.  Modern Woodmen has assisted the Cloud County Resource Center in years past on projects such as purchasing new coats for children and on stocking food into the food bank.

And the Walmart Volunteerism Always Pays program and Lead Special Projects Volunteer Jennifer Rozean have donated $1,000 to the Cloud County Resource Center based on the many hours worked on projects by Rozean.

Volunteerism Always Pays allows Walmart associates to volunteer and raise funds for the organizations they care about.  Associates who volunteer with an eligible organization for at least one hour may request a charitable contribution on behalf of the organization.

Rozean, who has worked for Wal-Mart for four years has been a Special Project Volunteer at the Cloud County Resource Center for more than six years, assisting with such projects as the former Holiday Store, Back to School Bags, and the Holiday Food Boxes.

In 2020, Rozean became the Lead Special Projects Volunteer.  This promotion allowed her to supervise other volunteers and came as a direct reward for the many long hours and hard work she had put into advancing the missions and programs of the Cloud County Resource Center.

The Cloud County Food Bank is devoted to assuring that all members of Cloud County do not go hungry.  Through public awareness, education and community advocacy, Resource Center Executive Director Tonya Merrill says they design programs to improve the ability of low-income individuals to maintain an adequate supply of wholesome, nutritious food.

Previously, the Cloud County Resource Center limited a person's visit to the food bank to once every 60-90 days.  Beginning in March 2023, the Cloud County Food Bank is now able to distribute food to clients once per month.

To be eligible, you must be a resident of Cloud County, have proof of address, I.D., and meet basic income guidelines.  You also must make an appointment 24 hours in advance.  Appointments can be made by calling the Cloud County Resource Center at (785) 243-1065.

This month, the Cloud County Resource Center is holding a Helpful Haves Drive to collect more personal hygiene items and cleaning products to fill their shelves.
