Cloud County Commissioners met Monday at the Cloud County Courthouse in Concordia and approved the hire of Kent Otott as the county's new Emergency Preparedness Director.

Otott will begin his new position on June 23 and takes over for James Quillen who retired earlier this year.

Commissioners also discussed the logistics of the impending move of solid waste billing to the county's annual tax statements starting July 1 with County Treasurer Shella Thoman, Solid Waste and Recycling Director Mike Hake, and County Appraiser Kim Winsett. Currently, the fees are put on water statements from the City of Concordia and other cities in the county.

Commissioners then received a road and bridge update.
