Delphos resident Ashlynn Alderson was named the North Central Kansas Saddle Club Rodeo Queen at the 71st Annual NCK Saddle Club Rodeo in Concordia on Friday, July 12th.

Alderson told KNCK News she was stunned to hear her name called as this year's winner.

The yearly NCK Saddle Club Rodeo Queen contest is open to girls between the ages of 14 and 21.

Alderson, 17, told us about her decision to compete for this year's crown.

Rodeo queens are ambassadors for the rodeo industry as a sport and for future generations.

Alderson says the family atmosphere is a big part of what makes the rodeo scene so special.
