Commodity Distribution to be Held at First United Methodist Church in Concordia on Sept. 20

A Commodities Distribution will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Concordia in September.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program provides free USDA commodity foods to low-income households throughout Kansas.  The Emergency Food Assistance Program food is shipped five to six times per year to participating organizations for distribution.

Organizations determine when and how often food is distributed.  The foods may include canned vegetables, fruit, juice, meat, cereal, peanut butter, nonfat dry milk, and pasta.   Each shipment provides a minimum of four and a maximum of 10 foods per household.

Persons who work but have low income, as well as those who do not work, are eligible for this program.  Persons must be Kansas residents.  They must apply in their home county, provide proof of their amount of income and household size (if asked) and must sign a form stating that they qualify for the program.  Persons may pick up food at only one location in their community.

The next distribution will take place Wednesday, September 20th from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm at the Concordia First United Methodist Church, located at 740 W. 11th Street in Concordia.

To be eligible to receive commodities the total household income must be below $1,580 for one person, $2,137 for two, $2,694 for three and $3,250 for four.  For each additional family member add $557.
